From beauty salons to… TikTok, the new anti-aging trend is now focused on the hands—a part of the body that many women feel is “out of sync” with a rejuvenated face, neck, or décolletage.
Constantly exposed to external aggressors—UV rays, water, pollution, and anything else that might irritate them—hands quickly give away a person’s age. As reported by the Washington Post, when exposed to all these irritants, they can eventually develop hyperpigmentation spots, and their skin becomes thinner.
This increasingly urgent quest for harmony is now taking place against a backdrop of growing aesthetic pressures. Research also shows a 4% increase in Botox and filler injections in just one year, according to a 2024 report by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Revitalizing treatments are on the rise
To limit the loss of firmness and volume that comes with age, aesthetic medicine specialists such as Sharlene Velazquez and Dr. Ewoma Ukeleghe are observing a particular surge in popularity for skin boosters and microneedling (both of which are filler treatments).
This trend toward rejuvenating “aged-looking hands” is largely amplified by social media and the proliferation of viral videos.
